Ideally placed in the middle of Keswick, The Bank Tavern offers a homely integrity during the winter months, and through summer, with the addition of a lively beer garden, an energetic character emerges. Traditional décor is an uncontrived reflection of The Bank Tavern’s history, as one of Keswick’s oldest hostelries. It has recently been modified to eating and drinking exclusively.
We are open from 11am to 11pm, and to 11.30pm Fridays and Saturdays.
A range of cask ales is served from a varied and friendly bar, offering what local brewers Jennings call ‘the taste of the Lake District’. The Bank Tavern is a charming location to enjoy a quiet meal or drink.
The Tavern is a genuine local pub that is also attractive and approachable to temporary visitors.
An unpretentious menu offers a wide range of traditional pub food. A distinction of presentation, service and quality makes many other bar meals appear average. Such distinction is emphasised by service ‘treats’ such as hot sizzlers on which the steaks are served. Food is served in impressive quantities, and cooked fresh on the premises. A friendly eating atmosphere is amenable to a relaxed family meal, or a formal outing.
The mix of passing trade and loyal local custom is a testimony to The Bank Tavern’s healthy and effective diversity.
